Self vs. Manager Functioning
Calm executive function ≠ managerial control.
Description
Managers can be incredibly competent, but operate from fear: “I must handle everything.” Self leads from clarity: “I can handle what arises.” Externally both look productive; internally one’s tight, the other’s open. Tracking the difference prevents burnout disguised as leadership.
What Self vs. Manager Functioning is NOT:
All-or-nothing; a moral ranking; an excuse for chaos.
Examples:
Same task list, one done in ease, one in panic.
Self-led pacing replaces over-scheduling.
You pause mid-hustle and realize a Manager hijacked focus.
