Attachment

The nervous system’s expectation about whether connection equals safety or danger.

Description

Attachment shapes how Parts relate to others and to Self. Secure attachment lets protectors rest; insecure patterns (avoidant, anxious, disorganized) explain many polarizations in relationships. Repair updates these templates via Rupture and Repair and Co-regulation.

What Attachment is NOT:

A fixed label; destiny; pop-psych excuse.

Examples:

Anxious part panics at delayed replies.
Avoidant part “needs space” right when intimacy deepens.
Secure stance says “I’m upset, but we’ll work it out.”
