Co-regulation
Nervous systems syncing enough that calm becomes contagious and Parts feel safer to soften.
Description
Before insight, offer safety. Breath, tone, pacing, posture: all signal “no threat.” Co-regulation is the social scaffolding that lets Self-energy show up.
What Co-regulation is NOT:
Fixing someone; smothering; “just relax.”
Examples:
Therapist slows speech and your jaw unclenches.
Partner places a hand on your back; the Critic quiets.
Group hums together before parts work.
